Willi Amrod has been playing music for decades now, with some of the best musicians in the world. He opened for Janis Joplin back in the day, and for Levon Helm at the old Lone Star in Manhattan. His funk-based fare has roots rock and country flavors, and environmental themes way before it became fashion His CD Children of the Earth was produced by renowned drummer Gary Burke (Bob Dylan, Joe Jackson Shania Twain) and featured the JBs-Maceo Parker, Pee Wee Ellis and Fred Wesley- the famed original horn section for James Brown, members of NRBQ’s Joey Spampinato, Terry Adams, Steve Ferguson and Frank Gadler joined in as well as John Platania, Ed Roynesdal, Ted Orr, Swampbat Sheehan and Rob Leon. From the save the planet themed “Children of the Earth” and “Diggerman,” the underlying faith of “Trust Me,” to the rollicking “Rollercoaster” and anti-war "Peace and Love," his music is inspiring on many levels, both viscerally and spiritually; it makes you want to move and has a message. The Amrod Band currently plays in the Hudson Valley area, where it’s built a solid fanbase the old-fashioned way, by relentless gigs and great shows.
